Blind dog sniffs out window and realizes he’s going to the dog park

We have shared many stories full of heartwarming moments between owners and their lovely pets. Spreading light is what we do and, with winter upon us, that light is more necessary than ever. There’s nothing like a nice story to warm your heart, bring you joy, and restore your faith in all things good.

Today, we bring you the story of Kida, a bling dog who went viral on the internet after her owner made a TikTok of her. Allison Miller took Kida to her favorite dog park and she decided to record the moment her dog realized where she was going.

To her surprise, the video made the internet go crazy and the clip of Kida wagging her tail and sticking her head out the window of the car went around the world. Naturally, we decided to find out more about the viral TikTok and its protagonist.

Meet Kida, the Blind Dog That Went TikTok Viral

Kida’s quite an energetic and adorable Great Pyrenees with a lot of personality! She’s very active and loves to play, run around, bark at things, and more. Due to a rare autoimmune disease, her eyes had to be removed, so she lost her sight completely. However, that didn’t change her nature! Her favorite activity, by far, is visiting the dog park.

According to Allison, they don’t go into the dog park because it’s the safest thing for Kida due to the way other dogs sometimes react. The good news is that Kida has 4 good friends and they have regular playdates! Kida has memorized the layout of her yard, so she’s able to have fun with her friends as any other dog would.

Allison is based in Houston and she loves animals, so she helps strays by working with local rescues. She adopted Kida at the age of 5 months and now she’s the center of Allison’s life.

Kida was rehomed because her owners got her as a guard dog for their chickens, but Kida kept trying to eat them. It’s a common misconception that Great Pyrenees are natural guard dogs, but they actually require many hours of training. When people realize that, they abandon or rehome them.

Allison Filmed a Cute TikTok, But She Didn’t Expect What Happened

Allison shared that taking videos and photos of Kida is part of her day-to-day. So, when she decided to take her to the dog park, she figured it would be a nice little video. Plus, the song playing on the radio at the moment was just right for the moment!

That’s how she decided to film a TikTok of Kida, but she didn’t expect it to go viral. Allison is known in her family to share videos and pictures of Kida on her social media every day, so she knows how happy it makes people.

In the short viral video, we can see Kida sticking her head out the car window and wagging her tail; the perfect example of pure happiness. After her TikTok went viral, Allison made Kida an Instagram profile so she could share her cute content with everyone, not just her family.

Allison shared that the moment the car turns towards the dog park, Kida knows exactly where they’re going. She immediately jumps up in the seat and starts wagging her tail. Exactly how we see it in the video! It’s such a cute, wholesome moment.

As a result of her viral video, other pet owners started leaving a lot of questions. She loves to answer them and give others some perspective on the life of a disabled dog. Additionally, people with blind dogs or who are in the process of enucleation have also reached out and Allison is very happy to answer what she can.

Kida goes to the dog park twice a week or more whenever possible for her owners. When she hears the words “dog park”, her ears instantly perk up and she runs straight to the door in excitement. So adorable!

How Kida Lost Her Sight

When it was discovered that Kida had a rare autoimmune disease and her eyes had to be removed, it was a shock. According to Allison, the surgery went well, and recovery was quite easy. Before the surgery, Kida was in a lot of pain, so it was a relief for her to go through with the surgery.

While Kida recovered, Allison’s sister’s cats realized that something had changed about their dog friend, so they behaved very well around Kida, which was very nice to see. Her dog friends also noticed a difference and they were a bit confused when they realized Kida couldn’t see them anymore. However, they adapted very quickly, and their playtime is as fun as ever.

After the surgery, Allison got a collar with bells so that when Kida has a playdate, her dog friend can wear it. Luckily, none of Kida’s friends mind the collar and it allows her to locate them a lot more effectively. She has such great friends, and they all treat her so well, it must be amazing to see.

Hard to Believe!

Allison sometimes has trouble believing millions of people saw her short clip of Kida being the happy dog she is. She loves that the clip has helped people see that dogs with disabilities have a great time and it doesn’t get in the way of their lives.

Allison got so many positive comments and reactions from people, it was very heartwarming! It seemed like the whole internet fell in love with Kida and she got a lot of people offering their eyes to Kida, which was very funny. Kida is Allison’s favorite subject, and the attention was also a great opportunity to raise awareness about dog blindness.
